Business card found... Unified Comms business a goer?

17 Dec 2013

A business card found in a leading IT Industry hangout has inadvertently confirmed the company name and logo of the rumoured Unified Communications integrator.

Following revelations in early November that a new specialist consulting integrator focused on the Unified Communications market was about to launch, The Channel can once again reveal more details of the mystery business.

Going by the name of UCFX, the business card places former Polycom man Deane Jessep as the company's new Business Development Manager.

After recently leaving his role as Polycom's New Zealand manager, Jessep has been heavily linked to the new business, a business which was first reported by The Channel in early November.

The latest development now adds credibility to the claims at a new start-up is building, with the new company surprisingly larger than first thought.

According to The Channel, former Microsoft man Brent Colbert has been heavily linked to a role within the new firm, alongside Jackie Diep.

Fast forward only a week however and the new start-up appears to be growing in numbers, with The Channel's trusted source claiming the UCFX team were in Auckland bar Everybody's last week for Christmas drinks.

"There was quite a few of them," the source says. "I was certainly surprised by the size of the team."

With the expansion of the team already underway, it still remains unclear as to whether the card and logo is a prototype or the official logo.

But what is clear from the card is that their focus is on Unified Communications and likely Microsoft Lync.

Given the background of Jessep and Colbert it makes sense that UCFX could be focusing on Microsoft Lync, especially given the QR code featuring an embedded Microsoft Lync logo.
