FYI, this story is more than a year old

UK-based communications software-as-a-service provider LoopUp has announced the appointment of Leigh Henderson as director of consulting for the Australia region.

It comes as the company continues its investment into the Asia Pacific cloud telephony market, which is showing signs of rapid growth: according to research from the Insight Partners, the APAC cloud communications market will be worth US$5.1 billion in 2027, up from $1.1 billion in 2018.

As part of his new role, Henderson will oversee the execution of Microsoft Teams cloud telephony deployments, from initial planning to project delivery. He will be based in Sydney, where LoopUp has an existing office and commercial team.

“We are delighted that Leigh has joined LoopUp to drive our Microsoft Teams telephony offering in Australia,” says LoopUp CEO Steve Flavell.

“The maturity of the cloud telephony market in the region demanded a seasoned leader with extensive expertise in cloud communications.

“Leigh's vast experience and his focus on customer success make him the ideal strategic leader to help customers achieve their business communication and collaboration goals, while at the same time also supporting LoopUp's growth in Australia”.

Henderson leaves his role as unified communications business lead at Nexon Asia Pacific, where he spent over 13 years in various technical roles. In his last role at the company, he led the design and deployment of Lync, Skype for Business and Teams Direct Routing solutions.

Henderson has also held senior positions at Telstra, BTAS and Cititel Telephone Systems. With over 20 years' experience in the telecommunications industry, LoopUp says Henderson is a Microsoft Teams specialist and holds a deep understanding of what customers expect from their phone system.

The announcement of Henderson's appointment comes at a time of significant change for LoopUp. The company launched its global cloud communications solution for Microsoft Teams in July last year, which uses direct routing to connect Teams users to their global, secure voice network.

As well as providing connectivity, LoopUp offers a fully-managed service which includes solution design, project planning, migration and onboarding. Microsoft certified specialists work in partnership with customers to design and plan the migration and to support user training and adoption.

“2020 has seen the workplace transformed with many businesses becoming remote,” says Henderson of his appointment.

“This has resulted in strong demands for effective communications. No other cloud telephony provider is as uniquely placed as LoopUp. LoopUp's secure, global voice network, deep Microsoft expertise and exceptional service set it apart from other providers.

“It's an exciting time to join LoopUp and I look forward to helping businesses communicate and collaborate better with LoopUp's cloud communications solution.
