Patton commits to providing top quality new-generation VoIP
Patton has completed testing of its new generation of enterprise session border controllers (E-SBCs) - branded as the SmartNode Enterprise Session Border Router (ESBR) - for interoperability with BroadSoft’s BroadWorks platform.
For telecom carriers and service providers that choose Patton’s new-generation SmartNode ESBR products as customer-premise equipment (CPE), the completed interoperability testing offers assurance of trouble-free deployment and operation of SIP-trunking and unified-communications (UC) services based on BroadWorks Release 20.0 / 20.sp1, according to the company.
SmartNode ESBR products are available with built-in traditional telephony interfaces. Businesses can use the integrated legacy port (PRI, BRI, FXS, FXO) to connect their bought-and-paid-for PBX systems with BroadSoft’s SIP-based unified communication services for enhanced workforce productivity.
BroadSoft’s interoperability testing supplements Patton’s own interoperability programme, which encompasses well-known brands of softswitch, PBX, IP PBX, and unified communications platform.
Patton and BroadSoft’s business relationship dates back to 2006, when SmartNode VoIP gateways were first certified for interoperability with BroadWorks via formal lab tests.
Last year, the two companies collaborated to produce a touchless automatic-provisioning solution for SIP trunks using Patton’s E-SBCs on subscriber premises. Swisscom has adopted the solution for its Business Connect VoIP service.
The SmartNode VoIP products are built on Patton’s new Linux-based Trinity operating system (OS).
The new universal Trinity OS enables customers to install, configure and operate any new Patton product without having to re-tool the network management system or learn a different user interface from one product to another.
Patton announced its newest Trinity-based E-SBC in March: the new SN5530 Enterprise Border Router - featuring 2 or 4 BRI interfaces and HD Voice - is now shipping and generally available.
