Samsung turn smartphones into desktops with new 'DeX'

Samsung has made a move towards total mobile takeover of desktop computers. On top of the announcement of the new Galaxy S8 smartphone range, they also introduced consumers to Samsung DeX. Inserting a smartphone into the device allows the user to utilise their phone as a sort of desktop, with monitor, mouse and keyboard connection capability.

DeX users can access apps, create and edit documents, surf the web, communicate via instant messaging among other tasks.

Samsung DeX provides Samsung DeX has a re-imagined Android UI which is designed to be used with a keyboard and mouse. DeX is compatible with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader as well as other apps desktop users are familiar with. .

“The smartphone has become the central point for the modern mobile professional, and when giving a presentation or editing documents remotely, it means they can work effectively using just their smartphone,” says Injong Rhee, CTO of mobile business at Samsung.

The DeX Station is equipped with two USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet capability, USB type-C power-in and an interior cooling fan. ALso featured is fast charging technology to charge your smartphone quickly at all times while connected with the DeX. also features Adaptive Fast Charging (AFC) technology to charge your Samsung smartphone quickly while connected.
