Zscaler first cloud security vendor to complete IRAP assessment
Mon, 19th Oct 2020
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Zscaler has become the first cloud security and zero trust vendor to successfully complete an Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) Assessment.

Zscaler's IRAP Assessment signifies that the cloud platform, Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange,  and Zscaler solutions have been independently validated as being significantly compliant in support of Australian Government security policy.

The IRAP assessment validates the organisation to support the Australian government as it strengthens public sector cloud security posture to protect employees and citizens.

Zscaler completed IRAP's two security assessment stages, as dictated in the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).

The first stage included a security assessment which identified potential requirements for product security mitigation.

A second stage assessed residual compliance focused on seeking evidence of compliance with and the effectiveness of security controls.

The Australian Government has been transitioning to cloud-first as a departmental strategy for several years seeking to reap the performance and cost benefits of using cloud resources.

During 2020, COVID-19-related pressures accelerated the number of agencies that are shifting from legacy, on-premise systems to cloud-based alternatives in order to help citizens and employees access governmental resources

“We are delighted that the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange and our suite of security solutions can now complete the missing piece in the government's cloud security strategy,” says Zscaler ANZ countries manager Budd Ilic (pictured above).

“We're proud to support public sector agencies modernising IT by making it safer to provide access to the internet and applications.

Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange is the largest cloud security platform in the world, processing more than 120 billion transactions and detecting over 100 million threats per day from users across 185 countries.

The company claims to serve more than 4,500 customers across all major industries and including over 450 of the Forbes Global 2000.

Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) is a cloud security service that transforms agencies' networks by delivering cloud-based internet and web security that scales to all users, regardless of location.

Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) delivers on Zero Trust Network Access by securing access to private applications without those applications or users ever connecting to the network.

“Our mission is to keep all government employees safe and productive, whether working from home or in a central location. Supporting remote teams and securing all data classifications is more important than ever.  We look forward to working with government agencies for the provision of secure, fast access to cloud providers and SaaS applications.  We are honoured to help government agencies secure their digital transformation,” says Ilic.
